Salud organizes various activities and workshops to improve the emotional well-being of the population

The Department of Health has organized various activities and workshops to improve the emotional well-being of the population on the occasion of Mental Health Week, which will have as its epicenter the International Mental Health Day this Thursday under the motto ‘Mental Health, with everyone the rights’.

In a press release, the Ministry explained that this Wednesday the social club of the Psychiatric Hospital organizes an open day of ceramics and gardening workshops between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Likewise, this Thursday there will be a physical exercise workshop with Mallorca Integra from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and, at 11:30 a.m., an activity that will consist of decorating and personalizing a cloth bag.

In addition, this Friday several volleyball, badminton and petanque tournaments will take place on the social club field from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

On the other hand, the Minister of Health, Manuela García, and the general director of Mental Health, Carme Bosch, will attend the conference ‘Mental health also from biology’ on Thursday.

The conference, which will take place at 6:00 p.m. at the Teatre Municipal Mar i Terra, will be given by Dr. Nazareth Castellanos, a graduate in Theoretical Physics and a doctor in Neuroscience from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Madrid. The event has free admission but limited capacity.

On the other hand, on floor 0, module k of the Son Espases Hospital, from this Thursday to October 31, a group of adolescents cared for by the Balearic Institute for Mental Health of Children and Adolescents (Ibsmia) have organized the activity ‘The powers that I need’ in which it is based on “the possibility of being able to have some cards with the power to change things.”

Through this utopia they will explore their real needs and reflect on what powers could help them overcome the difficulties they have beyond the therapeutic support they already receive, the Ministry has explained.

In this way, the activity is designed not only to reflect on limits, but also on the value of having adequate support. “Knowing how to ask for help when we need it is part of the process of overcoming the problem, and that is why it is very important to muster the courage to ask for it,” they noted.

For its part, the Son Llàtzer Hospital, in the outpatient consultation lobby, has scheduled a piano concert by Amadeu Punset for this Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. Starting at 10:00 a.m. some Olympic days will be held on the basketball court led by Cristina Romero and organized by Sport2Live.

Likewise, this Thursday the Hospital del Migjorn in Mallorca has organized a solidarity market from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; interactive tables on Mental Health from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and a session of Magic for Mental Health performed by Mago Fer, from the Abracadabra Foundation, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

All these events will take place in the outpatient and hospital lobbies of Son Llàtzer.

Likewise, Primary Care mental health nurses invite citizens to participate in the special event ‘Active mental health. Mindfulness and movement’ to celebrate emotional and physical well-being and offer guidelines to improve mental state and adopt healthy lifestyles. The appointment is at Sa Feixina Park from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

This same day, staff and users of the Mental Health day hospital of the Inca Regional Hospital will participate in the event organized by 3 Mental Health in the Santo Domingo de Pollença cloister within the X Social Conferences ‘We work with people and for people ‘.

During the event, the artist Pep Noguera will perform a monologue, fritters will be offered to all attendees and officials from different institutions, including the Minister of Health, will make brief speeches.

The event will be animated with brass band music and a performance by disc jockey D’j Pep. These activities will begin at 10:00 a.m. and are scheduled to conclude around 1:00 p.m.

Another of the events scheduled for this Thursday at the Inca Hospital is the inauguration of the permanent photographic exhibition ‘Jo no soc el meu diagnòstic’, which seeks to raise awareness among the population of the region regarding mental health.

The center also participates in the organization of the theatrical performance ‘The Altarpiece of the Monsters’, which will take place this Friday at 7:00 p.m. in the Club Pollença theater.

The Manacor Hospital, for its part, has also organized an open day this Thursday that will be held at the Portocristo Mental Health day hospital from 9:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

Finally, Calvià City Council has programmed different activities, including workshops to achieve greater well-being at work and in which municipal officials are urged to design personal plans to improve their self-care and emotional health.

They are organized by the Municipal School of Healthy Habits (Emhas) and have been scheduled for October 14, 21, 28 and November 4.

OTHER ACTS

In Menorca, numerous activities have been scheduled for these days, such as the event ‘We take to the streets for mental health in Ciutadella’ to make citizens aware of the devices and organizations in this area in Menorca. The event will take place this Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

On the day of the anniversary, Menorcan institutions will come together and read a manifesto in which they will show their global commitment to raising awareness about mental health problems.

Throughout that day, conferences will be given on the topic and this Friday two sessions will be organized, at 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at l’Orfeó Maonés, of an experiential talk with the presenter Javier Martín, who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder .

That same day, the Ferreries City Council will offer from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. the conference ‘A different psychology’, given by Víctor Amat, a graduate in Psychology from the Ramon Llull University, therapist, trainer and collaborator in various media.

This Sunday, the Social Welfare department of the Menorca Island Council has called on citizens to the popular march ‘Mou-te per la salut mental’ that will depart at 11:00 a.m. from the Rochina park in Port de Maó.

In Ibiza, the event ‘Words that add up, a look at mental health from APFEM’ has been organized for the international day, which will take place at the Mikasa Ibiza boutique hotel from 12:00 to 15:00.
