The Health Fair, organized by Canary Islands physiotherapists, invites society to address life and pain actively

“Create a dynamic space where physiotherapists and health professionals approach the population to, together, explore innovative approaches that help and accompany people to actively face the challenges of chronicity.” This is the objective of the Health Fair: Active Coping with Chronicity, organized by the Official College of Physiotherapists of the Canary Islands, which will be held this Saturday, October 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Parque San Telmo in the capital. grancanaria. The organization hopes to repeat the success of attendance and participation of the last 2018 edition, which also focused on the promotion of physical activity prescribed and dosed by health professionals, among others, the physiotherapist as an expert in therapeutic physical exercise.

With financing from the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and the collaboration of other professional associations, scientific societies and patient associations, this fair aims to bring health professions closer and make them known to all sectors of society, showing that their activity goes beyond to address a specific problem, which contribute to improving the quality of life of people with solutions to limitations and ailments of all kinds through interdisciplinary work.

Through talks, workshops, stands and interactive activities, we seek to promote the importance of prevention and health promotion. Another of its objectives is to bring the figure of the physiotherapist closer to the population, so that they are identified as a health professional, with training backed by a university degree and mandatory membership.

This fair, as well as a pre-congress day held in the month of May, are the prelude to the IV International Congress of the Official College of Physiotherapists of the Canary Islands, which will take place from November 14 to 16 at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium and will feature international participation of professionals. health workers, social health workers, managers, people who live with chronic conditions and family members.

Paradigm change of the health system

These actions are part of the plan developed by the COFC with the aim of adopting a comprehensive approach to the management of chronic conditions and placing the person with pathology at the center of care to improve their quality of life and promote positive results in their health. recovery.
