The Last Dance’ talks about his film’s relationship with Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man

Since their premiere in 2018, the ‘Venom’ films surprised both fans of the character and critics, achieving notable success at the box office and positioning Tom Hardy as one of the most iconic actors in the superhero genre. Despite not being directly connected to the MCU since its inception, these films managed to stand out for their focus on the symbiotic relationship between Eddie Brock and Venom, uniting action, humor and chaos. The sequel, Venom: Carnage Unleashed (45%), continued to expand this universe, making the saga one of the most popular in the antihero genre.

Now, with Venom: The Last Dance, the saga promises to close with an ambitious story, and rumors of a possible connection with the universe of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’, starring Andrew Garfield, generate many comments among fans. However, director Kelly Marcel has come out to deny certain rumors, clarifying what the true relationship between both franchises will be.

How does ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ connect to Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man universe?

One of the most discussed rumors about ‘Venom: THE Last Dance revolved around a possible connection with Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man. Speculation began when actor Rhys Ifans was seen in the trailers of the film. Ifans played Dr. Curt Connors, also known as The Lizard, in The Amazing Spider-Man (73%) and reprized the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home (92%). This fact led many to believe that his appearance in the new ‘Venom’ film would mean a crossover between the two universes.

However, Kelly Marcel clarified in an interview with IGN that, although Rhys Ifans does appear in ‘Venom: The Last Dance’, he does not reprise his role as the Lizard. Instead, he plays a completely new character, designed specifically for this film. Marcel pointed out that Ifans brings a fun and essential touch to the film, and that there is no need to introduce the Lizard into the plot, since the film already has enough antagonists, including Knull and other symbiotes.

This clarification makes it clear that, although both actors and characters exist in different Marvel franchises, ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ will not directly connect with Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man, at least not in narrative terms. Despite this, excitement about seeing Rhys Ifans in a new role remains high, and his participation promises to be an interesting point in the film.

When is ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ released?

‘The Last Dance’ is scheduled to premiere on October 25, just in time for the Halloween season, which seems like an ideal time for a film that promises action, mayhem and symbiotic monsters. Fans of Tom Hardy and the ‘Venom’ saga are already eager to see how this trilogy ends, and expectations are high. With the return of Hardy in the role of Eddie Brock and the introduction of new characters, the film is shaping up to be one of the big releases of the end of the year.

Why is the ‘Venom’ saga with Tom Hardy so successful?

The success of the ‘Venom’ saga can be largely attributed to Tom Hardy’s performance and the unique dynamic between his character, Eddie Brock, and the symbiote. Throughout the first two films, their relationship has been at the heart of the story, providing not only intense action scenes, but also moments of humor that have resonated with audiences. Hardy’s ability to balance these two aspects has been key to the franchise’s appeal.

Additionally, the focus of the films has been different from other superhero productions. ‘Venom’ doesn’t try to be a conventional hero, and the films have embraced that moral ambiguity. The fusion of violence, unbridled action and dark humor has made the saga stand out within the superhero cinematic universe, attracting both comic book fans and those looking for a lighter and more entertaining experience.

What’s next for the Spider-Man universe?

Although ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ seems to mark the end of the symbiote trilogy, the future of the Spider-Man universe is still active. With the next ‘Spider-Man 4’ movie already in development, Peter Parker fans can expect more adventures on the horizon. Although it has not been confirmed whether Tom Holland will continue in the role, the truth is that the character remains one of the most popular in the world of superheroes, and any new installment will surely generate global expectations.

The future of the Spider-Verse also looks bright with other projects in development, indicating that this universe is far from over. Even if ‘Venom’ concludes its main saga, there will always be the possibility of future connections and appearances of the symbiote in other Marvel productions. In any case, the path of Spider-Man and his extensive cinematic universe still has a lot to offer.
